What Did You Do This Weekend?

Our temps have been in the 80's this weekend and it was sunshiney beautiful yesterday and today!

On Friday evening Rick and I had our oh-so-romantic date of grocery shopping. Hey, a date's a date, right? We did go eat at our favorite local restaurant Baja Jack's. Yum!

He and I spent Saturday doing the following:
  • Cleaning out the refrigerator
  • Cleaning out and organizing the pantry
  • Organizing the freezers in the garage
  • Buying dirt and mulch and bushes and a few flowers and a few vegetable plants and seed packets
  • Preparing the new raised gardening bed for planting
  • Planting about 25 new bushes
  • Spreading mulch on all of the flower beds
  • Planting a few flowers in the beds
  • Planting carrots and strawberries and blueberries
  • Starting morning glory seeds and re-potting baby tomato plants
That was a busy Saturday! But the weather was so nice we just couldn't stand not to be out in it!

Then today I cleaned up a bunch of stuff outside and moved my greenhouse out to the back porch. I cleaned house and planned lessons for this week and inputted grades. Then I got courageous and decided to try to make some Rose of Sharon and Japanese Red Maple starts from cuttings. Then tonight Rick and I made one last run to Lowe's to pick up the last of what we needed (mulch, a couple of new bushes, etc.). Thanks to Lowe's we saved $60 this weekend. And we scored on $2.50 boxwoods. We bought twenty of them, so spent $50. They were regularly $6.98 a piece, so we saved $100 with our $10 off $50 spent coupon. We finally got some gardening areas planted that have sat empty for the last three years.

This was a great weekend!

  1. My weekend was no where near as productive as yours, but it was great. I'll post about it soon; however, your post makes me exhausted! Great accomplishments. You must feel so proud (as you should).
