Outside my window... Fall is so here! Leaves are starting to fall, it's crisp and cool in the mornings. So great!
I am thinking... about how homeschooling is me getting to play school all day like I did when I was a little girl, except my students are more cooperative than my sister was back then!
I am thankful ... for the laughs we had as a family last night.
I am wearing... a brown fitted t-shirt, jeans and my leopard flats.
I am planning... my next two week menu, Dawson's requested trip to the corn maze this weekend, Halloween costumes and the school Fall Craft Party.
I am creating... a workable homeschooling routine. It's starting to come together.
I am going... to take Kyndal to the doctor this afternoon to follow up on her car accident injuries, go to Eli's parent-teacher conference then get everything done early so we can all pile on the couch to watch The Biggest Loser tonight.
I am reading... A Pocketful of Pinecones by Karen Andreola. I'm not one to use the word "delightful" to describe something, but this is a delightful book! It's about a mother in the 1930's who decides to homeschool her children and about their adventures doing a nature study. It's written as her diary, and is sweet and informative, but also an instruction guide all at the same time. I love it!
I am hoping... that I get motivated to get back into my morning run. I've been so wiped out lately that getting up at 5:15 is not happenin'! Exercise any other time doesn't work out. I'll be feeling it soon if I don't get in gear.
On my mind... is how mellowed we all seem to be as a family right now. By cutting so much extra out of our lives, we have so much more time to just relax and be a family.
From the learning rooms... Busy, busy, busy! We are getting ready to wrap up our first quarter of school. I can't believe it! Kyndal is still struggling with Geometry, but has a project to do that she hopes will help raise her grade. Dawson is now studying Ancient Greece and the human body (today we are making fake poop as part of our study of the Excretory System.) Eli brought home 100% papers yesterday on his spelling test and math facts. Brynne is wearing me out with her desire to learn and do more, but it's great to have such an eager student. It's amazing our well she reads.
Noticing that ... by doing all of my housework on Sundays, including all of the laundry, I am so much less stressed during the week. I am able to enjoy my students during the day, even sometimes work in a little power nap and actually spend time with my family at night. Last night I even just sat on the couch and talked to the kids, watched t.v. in real time and read my book.
From the kitchen... I'm using my crockpot today ... cooking a couple of roasts to use for a few meals this week. I love the way the house smells when something slow cooks all day.
Around the house... are some of the first fallen leaves and acorns.
One of my favorite things... is taking care of my family. I don't need anything else.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Today Kyndal has a follow-up appointment from her wreck since she has completed her physical therapy and is still in pain. Then tonight Rick and I are going to Eli's parent-teacher conference. Tomorrow I am getting my hair cut and colored. {Oh, I can't wait!!!} Then Brynne and I will go to the homeschool story time at the library. On Friday she and I will go to our first homeschool coop event. My mom and niece are coming this weekend. We are going to the corn maze Saturday evening to celebrate Dawson's birthday that is on Monday.

Lots of women Daybook. See what they have to say at The Simple Woman's Daybook.
It sounds like things are going very well for you! I'm happy to hear that!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to read that book as well. Anything that gets "delightful" needs to be read in my eyes :)
ReplyDeleteI have completely fallen off the exercise wagon since school started. And it's amazing how fast I start to feel blah. I just haven't found my balance with it yet. I used to get it done as soon as Sophie left for school. I've tried to get up earlier but that's not working for me either. I just can't motivate myself to do it that early. I will get it together sooner or later :)
Back to running...me too!
ReplyDeleteFake poop...gross but such a boy thing to do! Sounds like you all doing great.
I'm so glad that you & your family are able to relax and enjoy time together. Have fun at the homeschool co-op. We joined one this year & love it. It's nice to encourage & be encouraged by others.
