There were 4 in the bed and the little one said, "Roll over. Roll over."
So they all rolled over and one fell out ...
And before long they had all flown out to live their new lives. One perched on the side of our roof, fluttering her wings, trying to get used to them. I told her how beautiful she was. And she flew away.
At one point the mama flew up to the nest and sat there for a moment. Then she flew down and sat on the back of the porch swing. She looked around and chirped for a few more moments. Then she flew away.
Now the nest is empty. And I'm sad. Can't wait for a new nest of babies.
And then this morning, I saw a new mama working furiously in the other corner of our back porch, getting a new nest prepared. I will have my wish granted for new babies soon.
Sounds very similar to what happened in your nest earlier this year. Seems like all the "mother birds" know when it's time to let go. NO ONE does a better job in tending to their nest than you do....seems like the perfect time to tell you that.
