With my husband being an avid golfer and over-the-top fan, it was a no-brainer when he asked me if I wanted to go with him to The Patriot Cup golf event at our local golf course, The Patriot sponsored by The Folds of Honor Foundation.
In the last four years, the Folds of Honor Foundation has awarded nearly 2,000 scholarships and raised over $8.5 million for the dependents of our nation’s fallen and disabled soldiers. Though we’ve come a long way in a short time, with over 220,000 dependents that have had a family member killed or disabled while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan—85% of whom do not receive any federal education assistance—we’ve got a long way to go. The Patriot Cup is an invitational golf tournament committed to ensure that no family is left behind on the field of battle.
The tournament pairs military personnel with professional golfers and celebrities.
We weren't able to stay at the tournament for long, because Rick had his own golf game to play this afternoon, but we were honored to contribute to the worthy cause and it was fun to get to see some professionals up close and personal. Next year we will definitely plan to make a day of it. We found the perfect hole to sit at and watch an entire hole played from tee off to putt.
May God bless our military and their families left here on the home front.
