Nicole's Daybook

Outside my window... it is a BEAUTIFUL day! Eli has his Boys Club at a local park this afternoon, so we will be getting some enjoyment out of it!

I am thinking... about how blessed I am to have Rick and the kids in my life. They have been so great during this past week when I have been so useless. Rick has worked especially hard, and I am so thankful for him.

I am thankful ... that I am, hopefully, on the downhill slide of my dental pain.

I am wearing... black burnout t-shirt layered with a gray, turquoise, black and white patterned short-sleeve swing shirt, skinny jeans, black flats.

I am planning...  I am still working on Brynne's The Secret Garden unit that we are starting next week. I need to get it completely planned out this weekend.

I am creating... ideas for how to organize my pantry. I don't know when I will actually get to the execution phase, but I am looking at magazines and thinking about our needs.

I am going... to try to have a productive day today, and hope to get some laundry done.

I am reading...  The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks, My Name is Mary Sutter by Robin Oliveira (I'll get back to it), My Antonia by Willa Cather (Dawson's daily read-a-loud), Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut (not-so keeping up with Dawson so we can discuss it, one chapter a week), Stepping Heavenward by E. Prentiss (my daily devotional), Beautiful in God's Eyes by Elizabeth George (book study I am doing with a friend, doing one chapter every two weeks), For Women Only by Shaunti Feldhahn.

I am hoping... that on Thursday, Rick starts the first day of a job that he truly enjoys and in which he really feels fulfilled. He is so looking forward to a positive challenge.

From the learning rooms... Dawson and I will be doing several hands on DNA projects this week, and are still working through our Heartland history studies. He is starting a week-long diary project pretending that he is a passenger on the first transcontinental railroad. He said he is excited about this project. Brynne is still doing Dogs. But, she moved up to her longest chapter book ever, from the Puppy Place series, that is not a picture book. She was nervous to start it, but will do just great. She has also been doing some three digit addition with carrying, and doing it well. I am going to print off some more worksheets for her to do to nail down the concept. She truly amazes me with her abilities. Her and Eli also have Girls and Boys Club today, so they are very excited!

Noticing that ... my sweet Eli is disliking going to school more and more everyday. He is so ready to come home for school, and we are so ready to have him! We want him to finish this year, though.

From the kitchen... My family will be eating well. But unless I start feeling much better, I won't be enjoying their meals with them. Right now my diet consists of oatmeal, Slimfast shakes, yogurt, single serve mashed potato bowls (these are actually yummy!), bananas, ravioli with some spaghetti sauce, raisin bran muffins heated up and slathered with butter so they are smooshy and dissolve easily. And lots of water and green tea.

Around the house... is disgustingness (is that a word?) My house is just so dirty and needs a deep cleaning. Being down this past week has been hard on my house.

One of my favorite things... are the moments when I am not in pain. It makes me appreciate the fact that typically I am not. For those who are chronic pain sufferers, my heart goes out to you.

A few plans for the rest of the week... I am not planning anything this week, because I just don't know how I will feel. I canceled my Bible study time this afternoon. We do have Girls and Boys Club because Brynne and Eli are just looking forward to it so much. And we have Co-op on Friday, but it's just the Mom's meeting so it will be nice to just sit and enjoy the other moms for a while. Other than that, we have no plans until church on Sunday.

From my picture journal.

Does your face hurt? Cause it's killing me! (Nice green bruise on my cheek, huh?) That's where Rick came home and punched me and said, 'Where's my dinner, woman?!!" Just kidding. JUST KIDDING! I think it's where my dentist had to put his foot on my face to finally get that wisdom tooth out.

Lots of women Daybook. See what they have to say at The Simple Woman's Daybook.
