We had a packed weekend (for us). I got a lot done that I needed to do, and a few things that I really didn't. But, all-in-all, this was a great weekend.
Let's start with Friday. Honestly, I can't for the life of me remember what we did or didn't do on Friday. I guess that's a good thing. I think I fixed dinner. I imagine we watched some t.v. Now that I think about it, Dawson's friend spent the night. But, other than that, I got nothin'. I guess I just needed a night like that.
Early Saturday morning, Rick and I got up and went to our church's Leadership Summit. This was a brainstorming session about what services we would like to provide our community this year. I certainly needed an opportunity to discuss the needs of others. Life can be so ME-oriented.
On Saturday evening, Rick and I watched the movie "The Help". I had read the book, which was excellent. It was a really good movie, and you need to watch it. It didn't quite live up to the book, but movies rarely do. It would have had to have been about a four-hour movie, at least, to really depict the racial implications of that time.
On Sunday we went to church, and brought home our pastors two little boys who are friends with Eli and Brynne. While they played their 3DS games and the Wii, I cleaned house and Rick went back to town to run some errands. When he got home, I laid on the couch with the dogs. I slept for AN HOUR AND A HALF, on the couch with all the t.v. and kids and noise. I guess I needed a good nap. I had been suffering from a serious sinus headache for a couple of days, and had a couple of late nights and some early mornings.
We invited the boys' parents over for dinner and to watch the Super Bowl. What I totally didn't need was to see Madonna, the geriatric patient, trying to dance. Poor thing. That was evidence that once you hit your mid-50's, you should NOT try to be Lady Gaga. Your day is done, Madonna. (It's especially bad when you make LMFAO look good.)
An although I TOTALLY DO NOT NEED ANOTHER T.V. SHOW TO BE OBSESSED WITH, I totally enjoyed "The Voice" and need to keep watching it. We didn't watch it last season. And I had no intentions of watching it this season, until I saw that 42 year old single dad Jesse Campbell. Wow. Yeah, we are hooked.
And tonight "Smash" starts. Geez ... there just aren't enough hours in the day.
I did manage to get my lesson plans done for this week, which I needed to do in order for us to get anything accomplished.
Overall, it was a great weekend!
glad you had a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteI thought madonna did great she danced, did gymnastics and it was like her concerts from when I went to those things ;)
the only show I make sure to watch is Suburgatory Love that show!!!
You have crushed my very soul....After watching Madonna I decided this 52 year old woman still HAS IT! I started busting some moves in my living room and had Paw Paw stomping his feet. What you're saying is I shouldn't do this in front of a mirror????
ReplyDeleteI watched The Help last week with my daughter...great movie but I will never eat chocolate pie again!
ReplyDeleteI'm halfway through The Help. I've had the movie sitting on my shelf for 3 weeks, but I have to finish the book before I watch it! I'm so glad to hear you liked both!
