The 12 Days of a Simple Christmas ~ Boxwood Swags and Wreath

In Colonial days, the families made their own fresh wreaths and swags. We don't have any evergreen or pine trees in our yard. But, we do have boxwood bushes. Boxwoods are a very popular bush here in Oklahoma.

We do not have a fireplace, but we do have an entertainment center where we hang our stockings. I am planning to cut some boxwood branches off our bushes and make a garland/swag for the top of our entertainment center.

I love these ideas:

And this is a great idea! We have four large windows in our living room that look out into our backyard. It would be a great place to do the word "Noel".

I am not needing to make a wreath for our front door, because my sweet mother-in-law (a faithful follower of my blog) made the most perfect, simple front-door wreath for us and it is now hanging on our door. Thank you, Dawn.

  1. Boxwood is very pretty. It looks like Christmas to me just as much as pine or evergreens. And with the complimenting red bow, perfect. Did you make the JOY or is that to show what you want to make. It looks great. NOEL would be wonderful in the windows.

  2. Can't wait to see pictures of what you come up with, Ma Ingalls. This really is such a neat idea and I have a feeling your family will enjoy this more than any other Christmas!
