For Vee

I woke up this morning to an extremely intermittant internet service. It gave me a good span of time to get some much-needed housework done and to play board games with Brynne.

I was annoyed I couldn't get on the computer (can you say obsession?), but took it as a sign that I had other things I should be doing instead ... more important things.

When I was finally able to get online, I checked my e-mail and then checked blogger to see what everybody was up to today. Almost every post was about reflections on 2010, resolutions and excitement about 2011 and even some late Christmas posts.

I actually have some posts ready to go ... one on why I'm not posting "Rick Rocks" anymore on Fridays, a list (with pictures) of everything I got for Christmas, reflections on 2011, and a one-word resolution post.

I was getting ready to get them all posted when I came across Vee's post called "The world through death-colored glasses." And all my posts seemed so unimportant to me. She is a grieving wife with an unborn baby who had a miserable Christmas and is dreading the new year without her husband and companion. She just wants time to stop, even for a moment.

I can't make time stop for her. But I can take all of this internet nonsense as a word from God that I should stop and just spend this time praying for her. It's a fasting of sorts. Anytime I feel the urge to get on the internet (and can't), I'll just pray for Vee. I'll stop for her and do my best to pray her through this new year transition.

Will you join me?

  2. I've been reading her blog. That post brought me to deep tears and I prayed so hard for her. It's making me stop, think and enjoy life more. I can't even begin to imagine her pain. It's absolutely heart breaking!
