Well, on yesterday I finally broke down and took Brynne to the doctor. On Tuesday her fever was about 100 degrees. On Wednesday it was up past 101. On Thursday it climbed close to 103. And by yesterday morning it was 104. She had a slight cough, slight congestion, a slight yucky nose, and a sore throat. She and I hadn't really slept since Tuesday night.
They tested her for both the flu and strep, and it was FLU. We were past the 48 hour mark, so Tamiflu wasn't going to work, but our doctor wrote me a prescription anyway and said I could give it a try. Our insurance wasn't going to cover it and it was going to be $250!! So, instead, I bought her a $50 Xbox game and decided that it would make her feel better for a whole lot less money.
Kyndal came yesterday afternoon and spent the afternoon with her. That was FREE medicine and must have been just what she needed because she slept really good last night. And today she stayed home with Dawson while Rick and I took Eli to Kansas City for his birthday. Yes, she missed a trip to LegoLand and Crown Center because she was sick. She was so sad. But Dawson played Xbox with her and they watched movies so, again, she got some good medicine there.
Tonight her fever is finally way down although she still has a cough. And, one of her eyes has many of the blood vessels broke in it and it's all red and yucky looking. She's going to miss church and a Christmas dinner with extended family tomorrow afternoon to stay home one more day. We are hoping she will be all better by Monday so she doesn't miss out on any of her Christmas fun.
And, we are praying that no one else gets it!
I'll be posting about Eli's special 9th birthday soon. Believe me, there is NOBODY who enjoys their birthday as much as him.
Many prayers your way!
