Yesterday Rick and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary. Celebrating, for us, is typically a calm, family event.
We did go to lunch together, at a Mexican restaurant, which was nice. It's funny how we always tend to talk about where we have been and where we are going as a married couple and family. Yesterday was no exception.
And then we were back to the ordinary-ness of our day. Rick went back to work. I went home and worked on U.S. History lesson plans for next year.
When he got home, he and I grabbed a drink and our dinner (crock pot chicken and dumplings) and enjoyed it together, alone, on our back patio. We had a reprieve from the heat yesterday, so there was a nice post-storm breeze.
After dinner we took Crusoe for a walk. Again, alone without kids.
We spent more time alone together yesterday than we have in a long time!
And then we ended the evening in true Taulman fashion: me sitting on the couch watching So You Think You Can Dance and blogging, and Rick working on his lawn mower.
Glamorous, glamorous, glamorous. We are all about the Glam! (We are planning to go for an overnight trip next month back to the city where we met to do a little "walk down memory lane".)
But it was a celebration, none-the-less. A celebration of 10 hard-fought years. And a look ahead to more and more.
(And, I had to laugh at Brynne. I was telling her that daddy and I were going to lunch alone yesterday and asked if she she remembered why. She said, "Yeah, because of that wedding." Yeah, that wedding.)
