Nicole's Daybook

Outside my window... it is dark and rainy. And this morning when I took the dogs out to potty, I heard a screeching, chattering kind of noise. There were two HUGE raccoons on the roof of the abandoned house next to ours. Now, I can deal with the eye sore of that house. But critters? I may have to call the city about it. Glad my dogs have their rabies shots.

I am thinking... about how the anger I have toward one particular person drains so much energy from me and I wish that I could find a way to just let it go. I keep chanting the verse "The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still." ~ Exodus 11:11. (But I really want God to give him the 'ol 1-2 punch and get the KO! Somehow I doubt that's what God means in that verse.) In the meantime I have to just find a way to let God handle him and rid myself of the burden of it. I don't want that #*@!&% person to emotionally control me like he does.

I am thankful ... that I get to see Rick this weekend because it's been three weeks since I have seen him, and I miss him.

I am wearing... my red toile pajama bottoms and a red tank top. But, I am getting ready to hop in the shower and get ready for the day. Who knows what I'll wear.

I am planning...  how I want to paint/decorate the back entryway of our house, and what decorative paper I want to line the back of our living room built-in shelves (I can't decide if I am going to use one pattern or mix them up with four different but coordinating ones.)

I am creating... a plan to lower our grocery bill. (One trip to Aldi per month, a limit of 10 items at Walmart every two weeks cause going there is where I go wrong, and all of the rest to be locally purchased.)

I am going... to continue on my new schedule of getting in bed at 10:00 p.m., reading until 10:30 p.m., and then getting up at 6:30 a.m. I feel so much better when I do that.

I am reading... The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton; Becoming a Titus 2 Woman by Martha Peace, and The Storm by Cynthia Rylant (Eli and Brynne's read-a-loud).

I am praying... that sickness is now done with us now that each of the kids have had some strain of the flu.

From the learning rooms... Things are moving along nicely. I am happy with where we are. One area that I am particularly pleased is in reading! Yesterday the kids sat and read in their chapter books for 30 straight minutes, which is huge! To see them read those bigger books, and to be so excited about what chapter they are on, is great! I can see their confidence building! Today we are finishing up our study of Arctic Animals, and it should be fun.

Noticing that ...  milk is over $4.50 a gallon.

From the kitchen... Tuesday ~ muffin tin meatloaf and rice, Wednesday ~ potluck at church (taking cheesy potatoes), Thursday ~ french toast, Friday and Saturday ~ not sure yet, but Rick will be here so I definitely want to cook something that he enjoys, Sunday ~ dinner at mom and dad's.

Around the house...  are washed, sterilized, and Lysoled bedding and fixtures from Eli's bout with the stomach flu.

One of my favorite things... is Downton Abbey. But, seriously, for Lady Sybil to die in childbirth was too much! I was crushed and can't stop thinking about it.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Today we will have a "normal" day of school (God willing) and then I am attending the first meeting of our UMW Circle at church. Tomorrow is another normal school day and potluck and bell choir practice at church. Thursday we will do the three R's in the morning (Reading, wRiting, and aRithmetic) in the morning and then will go to Homeschool Co-op in the afternoon. Our Fridays involve more school now that we are gone on Thursday afternoons, so we will finish up all we need to accomplish for the week and then get ready for a much-needed visit with daddy.

From my picture journal.

This kept Brynne busy for hours yesterday.

Lots of women Daybook. See what they have to say at The Simple Woman's Daybook.

  1. I hope you can find a way to take back the part of your life that "the annoyer" has control over. Rest assured that this will all play out like it should...God will see to it (even if takes longer than you want it to).

  2. I'm so glad you are going to get to see Rick! That has to be so difficult seeing him so infrequently.
I need to pick your brain about homeschooling. My husband is really pushing it, and now I'm second-guessing public school. I'll save that for an email!
