Outside my window... there is frost on the car windows, and it's chilly, but sunny and was a perfect morning for a walk.
I am thinking... about so much right now. The reality of Rick and I being in separate states is really hard. The logistics of it are not easy. On the one hand, the kids and I are doing great. The positives outweigh the negatives. We love it here. But, on the other hand, there are great negatives that flood my mind and my heart. I don't know how to reconcile the two.
I am thankful ... for the beef my dad gave us. This week we had some leftover green beans from dinner on Sunday. So I went to our freezer, pulled out some stew meat, grabbed whatever veggies we had on hand, and made some YUMMY vegetable soup that I will be eating all week.
I am wearing... a Blue Angels hoodie, grey fleece pants, slippers. It's Lazy Tuesday .. my favorite day of the week.
I am planning... to move my bedroom to the basement and let Brynne have my room as her own. It will allow me to have a bigger bed (right now I have a tiny full-sized VERY uncomfortable bed) so that when Rick comes he can actually sleep with me instead of sleeping on the couch. I know he feels like a guest when he comes for the weekend ... living out of a suitcase and sleeping on the couch. I hate that. I want him to feel more at home when he is here. I can make a nice bedroom downstairs.
I am creating... more thought-out, well-balanced meals.
I am going... to be really watching what my kids eat. I have discovered some bad habits (mostly on my part) that need to be corrected. Educating them on healthy eating and proper portion sizes starting now will give them a foundation for a lifetime of making good choices. More on that soon.
I am reading... The Green Shore by Natalie Bakopoulos; Attracting Birds to Your Backyard by Sally Roth, Becoming a Titus 2 Woman by Martha Peace, and The Storm by Cynthia Rylant (Eli and Brynne's read-a-loud).
I am praying... for a young woman on the Schoolhouse Review Crew (where I do homeschool product reviews) who is feeling so low and separated from God right now.
From the learning rooms... we are learning all about China and doing some good bird studies for science. We are in a good groove and I hope it continues!
Noticing that ... the government is literally going to kill us financially.
From the kitchen... Tuesday ~ turkey burgers, french fries, fruit, Wednesday ~ potluck at church (taking cheesy potatoes), Thursday ~ homemade lo mein made by the kids (from our study of China this week ... they love to cook recipes from the countries we are learning about), Friday ~ turkey hotdogs / turkey chili dogs with turkey chili, Saturday ~ not sure yet. I don't know if Rick is coming this weekend or not, so that will make a difference in what we eat, Sunday ~ dinner at mom and dad's.
Around the house... are jammies and blankets. We are snuggled in today doing school.
One of my favorite things... is hibernation (mine!).
A few plans for the rest of the week... We don't have much going on this week, which is great! We had Scouts last night. The kids are having friends over Wednesday after school for a couple of hours, and then we'll go to church for dinner and bell choir practice that evening. On Friday night I am going to Concordia to watch Kyndal cheer and for her senior night at the basketball game. The rest of the weekend will be pretty quiet, full of cleaning house and resting.
